Funky Baby Shoes

Bobby J - Genuine Leather baby shoes that will not fall off! I was stoked when my pair arrived in the post, not only were they are unbelievable cute and well made - my baby girl loved them! She cried when I tried to take them off her. The non slip suede soles are great indoors on wooden or lino floors - they even have a layer of soft padding.

I got mine from The Nappy Bootique, her service was top notch and she was even happy to do an exchange because I got the wrong size.

The hardest decision you will need to make is which design to buy!

Cloth Nappy Love is dedicated to spreading the love of cloth nappies with all. Cloth Nappy Love was launched late 2009 and is already fast becoming the go to site for all you need to know about using or making the switch to cloth nappies. They are the only site in New Zealand to have a comprehensive directory of where you can buy nappies from around the world.

Cloth Nappy Love has been created by Louise, an avid cloth nappy user and cloth nappy expert. She has been using cloth for over 3 years and has a successful cloth nappy retail store, Scamps Boutique.

Op Tots is about preloved and new childrens clothing, toys books and now we stock items of Mums too.

In this day and age many people are on a tight budget so Op Tots is a wonderful place to be able to purchase items for mums and their kids with a Thrifty Price tag.

There are some amazing bargains to be had at Op Tots but my personal favourite is their range of new soft sole shoes for babies learning to walk. I love the fact that these little shoes are washable and very affordable, even when I convert from Australian dollars to New Zealand dollars!

Op Tots also have maternity clothes and for a great price that I have not seen matched anywhere else. I'm impressed!

The other thing that really stood out is their funky and easy to use website - I love it! I highly recommend shopping online at Op Tots!!

An insight into my two girls

I really love this photo that my wonderful husband took of me with our two girls.

Had to share this one of our baby sucking her toes. Brings a smile to my face everytime I look at it :)

Thought I would share a bit about the girls birth stories. I do enjoy hearing about birth stories even if does make me even more clucky.

Amelia was born in 2006, a planned home birth, and is turning 3 in Sept, I honestly can't believe my little baby is nearly 3! She is excited to be having a party but not too sure what we are doing for her. My 1st attempt was shocking! I burnt the bottoms of the cupcakes, and her cake wasn't cooked properly (ovens fault...I swear!) and fell to bits when I tried getting it out of the tin. So we had to do a mad rush to the bakery for one which meant Daddy couldn't eat it.

Kiya was born in 2009, should have been another home birth but unfortunately everything conspired against it, she was almost a road side baby but we made it to the maternity unit with about 5 mins to spare. At 5 months, Kiya is a big baby (I don't do small babies it would seem) already 67cm long so almost in size 0-size 1 clothes and is 7kg already so that means medium nappies - just another excuse to buy more nappies haha!

Funky Tagged Blankets

Jess, owner of Exquisite Baby made me a gorgeous tagged blanket for my little baby girl and she just loves it.

She hand crafts her tagged blankets out of funky prints and scrummy fleece or minky with cute hand picked ribbons for the tags. Easy to grab for babies and lovely to cuddle!

Exquisite Baby also designs and makes other baby products such as Linky Dinkees, Fairy Skirts (you gotta check these out!) and bibs (these are super absorbant made in bright funky colours). I also stock her Onesie Bummies.

Wet Wednesday

Wednesday mornings are a mad rush of getting out the door no later than 8.40am and today was no different. The weather was looking a little dodgy but the sun was out so I didn't give it another thought. I got my 2 girls ready, DD#1 feed, showered and dressed ready for preschool, DD#2 feed, nappy change and in the wrap all ready to go - somewhere in all that I managed to have a shower and get dressed myself!

The walk to preschool was non eventful. DD#1 had a few tears when I tried to say 'bye, see you at 3'. As I had nothing urgent waiting for me at home (expect a bag full of dirty cloth nappies waiting to be washed...) I decided to stay with her until she was happy. Half an hour later after lots of cuddles, I was able to leave which was good, DD#2 was sitting in yet another pooy nappy!

Walking out the door, I realised it was raining, we had no jackets, no umbrella, got offered a cuppa in the staff room and use of a disposable nappy. I declined the offer, tucked DD#2 up in the wrap and had her completely covered by the fabric in an attempt to keep her dry, and home we went.

How impressed was I when I got home, unwrapped DD#2 thinking she will be a bit damp but no she was in fact dry, and snoring!! Who knew baby wearing in the rain would work so well!

So I thought I would share my little story about baby wearing in wet weather (of course the outcome may have been different if it was raining heavier) and this wonderful product with you all!

International Cloth Nappy Week

Cloth nappies are old school and we love them as do many parents across the world! We all share the same passion that is cloth nappies - better for the environment, your wallet and they look so damn cute on your babies bum!!

So what is International Cloth Nappy Week all about? Well it is about sharing the love of cloth nappies and helping non cloth nappy users to try them. There are many myths out there about cloth nappies which just aren't true.

Why do I love using cloth nappies?
The colours, the prints, the fabric that are used to create cloth nappies - you can colour match to outfits, you can also use them as an educational tool to teach your child the different colours!

Knowing that I am not throwing away a nappy to sit for years in land fills, that I can wash and reuse just like clothes - it only adds an extra load of washing each week!

The cost, I have already spent thousands of dollars on disposable nappies before I found cloth nappies but now I am saving money each week because I don't have to buy nappies or wipes so I can afford to buy things that we need - like cute new baby clothes!

I think the best thing about using a cloth nappy is you can customise the absorbency of the nappy to suit, so if you have a heavy wetter or to use a cloth nappy over night all you need to do is add a couple more inserts/boosters and away you go - now you can't do that with a disposable!
